A Worship-Filled Life: Families Growing Together in Faith and Mission

Highlights from Evergreen Missions Family Camp 2026 by Caleb Byerly

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15

What happens when you bring together families who love Jesus, share a heart for missions, and simply give them space to slow down and enjoy one another?

That was the heartbeat behind our 2026 Evergreen Missions Family Camp, held on July 10–11 at Evergreen Farm in Moravian Falls, North Carolina.

This was our second annual Family Camp, and what a joy it was to watch God continue to shape this gathering into something truly special.

There are many wonderful camps designed for children, teenagers, or adults. But we sensed a growing need for something different—a place where entire families could grow together. Instead of separating parents from children, we wanted to create an environment where families could worship, play, learn, and simply enjoy being together.

Many of the families who joined us have a deep heart for missions. Some are actively serving on the mission field, while others are home on sabbatical or preparing for future ministry. Family Camp became more than just a weekend getaway; it became a place of refreshment, encouragement, and meaningful connection among families who understand both the joys and challenges of following God's call.

One of the values we cherish most at Evergreen Missions is what we call "strategic life exchange."

We believe God has entrusted each person with unique gifts, experiences, and grace. When believers intentionally spend time together—not rushing from one activity to the next but simply sharing meals, conversations, testimonies, and life—God often uses those moments to strengthen, encourage, and sharpen one another. Some of the most meaningful ministry happened around campfires, during meals, on hiking trails, and in quiet conversations between families.

This year's theme, "A Worship-Filled Life," reminded us that worship extends far beyond singing songs on Sunday morning. Worship is found in our daily obedience, our relationships, our work, our parenting, our generosity, and the way we love others. Throughout the weekend, we explored what it means to live every part of our lives as an offering to God.

Families embraced the camping experience together, pitching their own tents throughout Evergreen Farm and transforming the property into a vibrant community of worship, fellowship, and adventure. Parents and children worked side by side to build their temporary homes, creating memories long before the official program even began.

Of course, there was no shortage of adventure.

Under the leadership of our Camp Director, Michael Bailey, families enjoyed activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and joy. Children raced down an incredible 200-foot slip-and-slide, soared across the farm on a 200-foot zip line, explored God's creation, and spent countless hours of fun together.

At Evergreen Missions, we believe that spiritual formation and adventure belong together. Faith has always involved stepping beyond comfort, embracing new challenges, and trusting God along the journey. Whether climbing a hill, flying across a zip line, or taking a step of obedience in life, every adventure becomes an opportunity to grow in courage and dependence on the Lord.

As our Family Camp continues to grow, so does the vision.

Last year was a one-day gathering.

This year became a two-day experience.

Lord willing, next year will expand into three days as we continue creating space for families to rest, worship, and encourage one another.

In a fast-paced world that constantly pulls families in different directions, we believe there is tremendous value in slowing down together.

Around campfires, over shared meals, in heartfelt worship, and through simple conversations, God continues to strengthen families who desire to make Him known.

Our prayer is that every family who leaves Evergreen Farm returns home not only refreshed, but with a renewed passion to live lives of worship and to raise the next generation to know, love, and follow Jesus wherever He leads.

To every family who joined us this year—thank you for making Family Camp 2026 such a joyful celebration of faith, fellowship, and mission.

We can't wait to see you again next year.
