Reflections from MC Third Gate – Missions Exposure October 2025 by Star Maglajos
There is something about starting a mission trip in the rain that feels symbolic.
Our second Missions Exposure Trip in October 2025 began under dark clouds and heavy downpour the night before our visit to one of DMI’s missional communities—MC Third Gate. The rain poured relentlessly, and we knew what that meant: muddy roads, slippery paths, and uncertain travel.
But when God says go, weather becomes secondary.
Our team was small but full of heart—Jeffrey and his wife Malen, who are faithfully leading these communities, along with Liston, Andre, and me.
Five people carrying supplies, prayers, and expectation.
By morning, the rain had slowed, but the roads told the story of the night before. Thick mud clung to the tires. The path was uneven and slick. Every turn required patience. But not once did we feel like turning back.
I was reminded of Jesus’ words:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19
He did not say, Go if the road is convenient. He did not say, Go if the weather cooperates. He simply said, Go.
And so we went.
By God’s grace, we arrived safely at Third Gate. A soft drizzle welcomed us—as if heaven itself was blessing the gathering. The worship center was quiet at first because the community was busy preparing lunch for us. I found myself smiling at the simplicity of it all.
There is something deeply humbling about being served by people who have so little yet give so much.
We waited, talked, laughed, and admired the beauty of the mountains surrounding us. The air felt fresh. The pace felt slower. It was peaceful in a way that city life rarely allows.
Soon, the community gathered inside the worship center. What began as a quiet afternoon became a sacred moment of worship. No stage lights. No elaborate setup. Just sincere hearts lifting their voices together.
Liston and Andre shared the Word of God, speaking life and encouragement. They prayed for those who needed healing and strength. Despite the damp air and muddy roads, God’s presence was tangible.
Sometimes we think revival must be loud and dramatic. But that day, it was gentle. Faithful. Steady.
And my heart was full.

Spending time with the Third Gate community reminded me that missions is not about events—it’s about relationships. It’s about showing up. It’s about loving people where they are.
