Christmas has always been more than a celebration—it is God’s bold announcement to humanity: Light has come. John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

This isn’t poetic language. This is a spiritual reality. Where Jesus enters, darkness retreats. Every time. But the miracle of Christmas does not end with Jesus coming to us. It continues with Jesus sending us. The Baby wrapped in cloths grew up to say something almost unbelievable: “You are the light of the world.”Matthew 5:14

Pause and let that sink in. The Light of the world calls us the light of the world. The One sent by the Father now sends us (John 20:21). The Lamb born in Bethlehem becomes the Lord, commissioning His Church. Christmas, at its core, is not just about God arriving.

It is about God sending. God empowering. Godis inviting us into His mission on earth.

Christmas Is a Missional Story

When the Light entered the darkness, He didn’t stand far off. He stepped into the broken. He embraced the forgotten. He walked among the unreached. Now, through His Spirit, He calls us to do the same. To shine is not a suggestion—it is identity. It is who we are. It is the natural overflow of those who have been set ablaze by the Light Himself.

A Call to Shine

This Christmas, let’s not only admire the Light—let’s carry Him. Let’s step into the coming year with courage, conviction, and compassion. Shine to your neighbor. Shine to the unreached. Shine to the nations. Because the story of Christmas is not just the story of God coming—it is the story of God sending.

And now, He sends us.
