Until All Have Heard: Go Where the Need Is!

It was after a very delicious dinner with ministry friends when someone across the table asked me a question I did not expect:

Star Maglajos had dinner with her friends in Manila.
Star Maglajos had dinner with her friends in Manila.

“Star, if you were sent overseas for mission work, which country would you like to go to?”

It did not take me long to answer.

“God willing, North Korea.”

The reaction around the table was immediate. Eyes widened. Silence fell. Concern filled the room.

“But why?” he asked. “It is a very dangerous place for any missionary.”

I understood the concern. I really did. But I looked him in the eyes and replied simply:

“Because the need is there.”

For me, missions has never been about preference. It has never been about choosing a place I like. It has always been about going where the Gospel is needed most.

Jesus said:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” — Matthew 24:14

The goal is clear.

The mandate is urgent.

The timeline is unknown.

But the mission remains: Until all have heard.

Some people imagine missions as a spiritual adventure — a chance to travel, experience culture, and do ministry while enjoying beautiful places. But the reality is far different.

To me, missions feels less like boarding a comfortable tour bus and more like riding in an ambulance.

It is a rescue mission.

When medical professionals respond to emergencies, they do not ask, “Where would I enjoy working today?” They go where the need is critical. They race against time because someone’s life is on the line.

That is how I see the Great Commission.

We are not tourists.

We are responders.

We are sent to places where spiritual death is imminent.

My heart aches for nations where access to the Gospel is almost nonexistent. Places where there are no churches nearby. No pastors to teach. No Bibles to read. No media through which the message of Christ can be heard.

According to global population data, approximately 1.8 people die every second worldwide, which equals around 155,000 deaths per day (United Nations World Population Prospects, 2024). Many of these souls step into eternity without ever hearing the name of Jesus even once.

This reality makes me weep.

To think that someone could live an entire lifetime — full of hopes, fears, relationships, and dreams — and then enter eternity without ever hearing the Gospel.

Scripture gives us both warning and responsibility:

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” — Proverbs 24:11

This is not poetic language. This is a call to action.

The mission is not about building ministries that look impressive. It is about rescuing souls that are perishing.

Paul reminds us:

“Be very careful, then, how you live… making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16

We must redeem the time.

The clock of eternity is ticking for millions who have never heard. The Gospel is not merely a message of comfort — it is a lifeline.

And so my heart cries:

Go where the need is greatest.

Go where the light is dimmest.

Go where Christ is least known.

This is not a leisure trip.

This is a rescue mission.

Until all have heard.

Until the Gospel reaches every tribe and nation.

Until the Lamb receives the reward of His suffering.

Will we go?
